Fazio: Lamont Gave Diamantis a Raise; Federal Judge Sentences Him to 7 Years

HARTFORD, CT — Following today’s sentencing of former Lamont administration official Kosta Diamantis to 7 years in federal prison, Republican and Independent Party nominee for Governor Senator Ryan Fazio said the sentence raises serious questions about accountability in the Lamont administration.

“Governor Lamont gave Kosta Diamantis a promotion and a raise, putting him in a position of enormous authority over taxpayer dollars. Today, a federal judge sentenced him to 7 years in prison for corruption.

“The Corruption Tax is growing in Connecticut under Gov. Lamont, with tens of millions of taxpayer dollars stolen and even more wasted. Scandal after scandal has emerged under his watch. The buck stops with the Governor–not somewhere else. When I’m in office, I will bring accountability back to our state government.”
